“3rd Annual Cancer Centre Walk/Run/Bike Kicks Off at Kivi Park”

SUDBURY, ON – The Northern Cancer Foundation and Kivi Park were doing their best to ward off the cold this morning as they set to launch the 3rd Annual Cancer Centre Walk/Run and now Bike.

“We’re excited to be working with the good folks at Kivi Park again, but this time in the warmer weather,” says Tannys Laughren, Executive Director of the Northern Cancer Foundation, “We couldn’t be happier to host our Walk/Run here and the availability of bike trails adds another new dimension to our event.”

The beautiful trails at Kivi Park will serve as the backdrop for the Cancer Centre Walk/Run/Bike for Hope where participants can run or walk the 1km, 3km or 5km trails or bike the 1km or 6km trails.

Previously the Northern Cancer Foundation held their Trek for Cancer Snowshoe Fun Run at Kivi Park where they raised over $100,000.

“Obviously we’d like to recapture the magic that happened with the Trek, but even just promoting cancer awareness and getting people active is a victory in itself,” says Laughren.

The Cancer Centre Walk/Run/Bike for Hope will take place on Sunday, June 11th, 2017. Registration is $35 and includes an event t-shirt and lunch. Kids under 12 can participate in the 1km courses free of charge. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges.
