Inaugural Fork and Barrel Raises $20,000


SUDBURY, ON – Local was the word on everyone’s lips at the inaugural Fork and Barrel last Friday night as over 140 gathered to celebrate the fall harvest at Natura Catering and Events by Verdicchios Ristorante Enoteca.

Local farmers, brewers, wine-makers, chefs, business-owners and members of our community came together to eat, drink, network and even crush grapes with their feet! Fork and Barrel raised $20,000 to help the Northern Cancer Foundation “stomp” cancer.

“What a way to kick off October and celebrate the harvest,” says Tannys Laughren, Executive Director of the Northern Cancer Foundation, “Local support is so important to us. It’s affirming that our local businesses and community members want to support a cause that’s also local.”

The NCF would like to thank the Fork and Barrel organizing committee for all of their hard work as well as Verdicchio Ristorante Enoteca, RBC, Gerry Kingsley, The Island Jar, The Butcher Shoppe, Isle Away Honey, Huckleberries Chocolatiers of Canada, Tawse Winery, Boreal Winery, Stack Brewing, Heartwood Kombucha, Heartwood Mushrooms, Cheeky Heifer Farms, LoonSong Farm, Triple Star Acres, Smart Greens Sudbury, Don Poulin Potatoes, Three Fork Farms, Only Pasta Gourmet Foods, Maple Ridge Farm, My Mother’s Place and the Sudbury Star.
