North Bay Regional Health Centre

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario.

NBRHC has 401 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.

NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.

A major teaching centre for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing and allied health professions, NBRHC is proud to be affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Nipissing University, Canadore College and several other Ontario colleges and universities.

Position:  Manager of the OR, PACU, Day Surgery

Region:  Nipissing

Description:  Reporting to the Director, Surgery, Women and Children, you will apply your proven interpersonal and leadership skills in program visioning, planning, resource allocation, service excellence, research and quality improvement. In addition, the Manager will promote patient-focused, interdisciplinary care, both within the Hospital, the community and North East LHIN.

The Manager, OR/PACU/Day Surgery, will be responsible for the following programs:

? Operating Room, including Ophthalmology Clinic
? Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU)/Day Surgery, including Pain Management Clinic

The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
• Relevant clinical degree at the Baccalaureate and Masters level
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent management or advance practice experience
• Recent relevant clinical experience working with perioperative programs i.e. Operating Room, PACU, Day Surgery.
• Excellent budgeting and financial management skills and knowledge of funding and care delivery models related to the Perioperative programs e.g. HSFR/QBP funding model.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical-reasoning, critical thinking skills, assessment, documentation, intervention and care planning skills
• Superior leadership, communication, team building and creative problem solving skills
• Ability to work with respective teams to support quality improvement initiatives under the philosophy of More Time to Care and in alignment with the Strategic Plan. e.g. NSQIP
• Excellent human resource management skills including recruitment, retention and motivation of staff
• Knowledge of legislation affecting human resources (i.e. human rights, employment standards, Occupational Health & Safety)
• Familiarity with collective agreements
• Experience with change management and innovation
• Demonstrated coaching and empowering style of management
• Demonstrated ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events and promotion of quality in our organization
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check: recent, within three (3)
months is a requirement

French Proficiency:  French an asset
