Special Olympics Ontario - Clinical Directors

Healthy Athletes (HA) is a health screening and education program designed for people with Intellectual Disabilities. HA Screenings are offered in eight disciplines and are administered by trained volunteer health care providers, called Clinical Directors, at sporting events throughout the year. Launched in 1997, HA has made Special Olympics the largest health care provider for people with Intellectual Disabilities in the world. Position:  Clinical Director

Region:  Algoma, Cochrane, Manitoulin/Sudbury, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Timiskaming

Description:  Special Olympics Clinical Directors are volunteer healthcare professionals who are responsible for working with their local Special Olympics Program and other volunteer health professionals in coordinating the local health screenings for Special Olympics athletes and people with intellectual disabilities.



Healthcare providers are trained by Special Olympics International with training sessions typically coinciding with a major sporting event to provide both didactic and hands-on experience. All travel, meals, and additional expenses are covered by Special Olympics.
