Noojomowin Teg Health Centre

Noojmowin Teg Health Centre is an Aboriginal Health Access Centre that provides traditional healing, primary health, mental health, and health promotion services to community members of the seven First Nations of Manitoulin District and surrounding areas. Given the traditional practices of the Anishinabek, occasional exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines, including tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar, may occur in the work setting.

Position:  Human Resources/Physical Resources Assistant

Region:  Manitoulin/Sudbury

Description:  Noojmowin Teg Health Centre is seeking a full-time Human-Physical Resources Assistant. The HPR Assistant will provide administrative support to the Human and Physical Resources function. The HPR Assistant will help with the development and implementation of policy and procedures, recruitment, orientation and training, occupation health and safety, time and attendance management, disability management, physical resources, and other areas as directed. The HR Assistant will prepare documents, enter data, ensure follow-up, coordinate functions, keep track of departmental tasks, as well as support and implement special projects. The HR Assistant will report to the leader of the HR function.

Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of relevant employment legislation and regulations in Ontario
• Current trends and best practices within the Human Resources field, including recruitment, orientation, compensation, training, investigation processes and employee relations
• Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritize workload, coordinate assignments, and respond to the demands of a dynamic environment
• Strong computer skills and use of relevant software programs
• High keyboarding and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs;
• A strong sense of ethics, integrity, confidentiality and privacy
• Current CPR Level C and First Aid.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
• Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the Anishinabek culture, a priority.
• Ability to speak Anishinabemowin, an asset



Salary:  To be negotiated

Terms of Employment:  Full-Time
