Service Description: To continuously improve stroke prevention, care, recovery and re-integration after stroke

  • Operates an outpatient clinic for individuals who have signs and symptoms of a recent stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA), as well as for individuals who have been identified as being at high risk of having a stroke or TIA
  • Assists individuals in investigating the cause, or causes, of the stroke/TIA
  • Helps individuals develop strategies to prevent an occurrence or recurrence of their symptoms
  • Clinics are offered in:
    • Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
    • Fort Frances, La Verendrye Hospital
    • Kenora, Lake of the Woods District Hospital
    • Marathon, Wilson Memorial General Hospital

    Fees: None
    Application: Referral is required from either an Emergency Department doctor, family doctor, Nurse Practitioner or another medical specialist
    Eligibility / Target Population: Individuals who have had a recent stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), or are at a high risk of a stroke or TIA
