Service Description:
|
Wakenagun Youth Healing Lodge is a live-in service for Indigenous youth with substance use and/or mental health issues. The program focuses on healing through culture and land-based healing. Teaching surrounding the 7 grandfathers, medicine wheel, medicines and the drum are paramount in helping youth begin to see things through a traditional lens. Over the course of the program, focus is placed on the body (stabilization), the mind (education), the emotions (healing), and the spirit (transition).
The program cycles between all-male gendered cohorts, all-female gendered cohorts and two spirit and transgender program cohorts. Applicants may choose which gendered cohort they would prefer.
